Men's fashion Illustration is a little different than women's.  The croqui is a 9 heads high and the features and body are overall thicker than the women's.  We did not have any assignments using the men's croqui.

Final Project

This is a picture of my final project which has flats of my garments, the season, line name, logo, and fabrics swatches on it.  By doing this project, I learned there is a lot of work and time put into fashion illustration.  It was a lot of work but a lot of fun making it my own.

Color Schemes

Color schemes can really contribute to the mood of a fashion illustration.  For my project as seen in the previous post I used and analogous color scheme.  It is a color scheme that has colors that fall next to each other on the color wheel.  Other schemes include complimentary and split complementary.

Portfolio

Portfolios are very important in order to get a job in the fashion industry.  For project 5 we were to make our own portfolio with croquis fabric swatches and flats.  Here is the first page of my portfolio with my croquis rendered.

Layouts

There are 6 types of layouts: Formal, Group, Band, Path, Grid, and Axel.  The above picture is formal.  Most magazine covers are in a formal layout.  You can use different layouts to convey different messages.

81/2 heads or 10 heads high

In fashion illustration, you can draw a 81/2 head croqui (left) or a 10 head croqui (right).  The 10 head croqui is a more elongated look and is used in more fashion situations.  We have done a plus size 81/2 croqui for a project as well.

Kissing Colors

In my fashion Illustration class we learned about prisma markers.  They are universal! Which makes it easy to communicate with other countries about colors.  If you touch the tips of the markers you can create a new color.  After you draw with it, it will eventually go back to its original color.  This technique is called kissing.
