Specs vs Flats

In fashion illustration, both specs and flats are drawn.  It is important to know the difference.  Specs have more detail and have the precise measurements so that the manufacture knows how to make them.  I personally like to draw flats more because there isn't as much pressure to be exact.  Here are examples of flats and specs.  The one on the left is a flat and the one on the right is a spec.

Fashion Illustration History and Appreciation

Fashion Illustration started about 500 years ago.  Now, we more commonly use photography in magazines and other publishing.  Many people don't realize how much work and time goes into fashion illustration.  Now that I am taking a fashion illustration course I appreciate it so much more.    Here is an example of a basic croqui.  Later, I will post some of my own croquis.
